About us

Founded in June of 2010, The American Task Force on the Western Sahara (ATFWS) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization based in Washington, DC.  ATFWS seeks to demonstrate to the American public the profound interests at stake for the United States in the Western Sahara dispute.
ATFWS is committed to advocating that it is in the American interest to promote an end to the conflict over the Western Sahara.  The Task Force was established as a youth-led initiative by two George Washington University students, one American and one Moroccan, to provide an active and independent voice for Americans, Moroccan-American, Sahrawis and their supporters to promote a resolution to the stalemate.  ATFWS works primarily in Washington DC, and in pursuing its advocacy goals, it seeks to develop bridges of communication and understanding between the United States, Morocco, Algeria, and Sahrawis.

ATFWS is strictly opposed to all acts of violence against civilians no matter the cause and no matter who the victims or perpetrators may be.  The Task Force advocates the Moroccan Autonomy plan as the ultimate solution to the Western Sahara conflict.
